Grand is the premier active, age-restricted community in Arizona. We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our golf team as Head Golf Professional at the Cimarron Golf Shop!

Responsibilities include directing all activities related to the game of golf including the golf shop and outside service; teach/instruct the game of golf; and promote customer service policies and procedures to ensure a Grand golf experience to the residents and guests of The Grand. This position requires attention to detail, confidentiality, and a great deal of contact with community residents, guests, visitors, and the Community Association Management (CAM) staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage, through direct supervision, the inventory of golf tee times to ensure the highest utilization;
  • Train department employees in customer service, processes and procedures, safety procedures, and the culture of The Grand;
  • Serve as liaison with residents, members, guests, vendors, and the PGA of America to reflect the most favorable impression of the golf club, community and Association;
  • Interpret and enforce golf rules and regulations with guidelines set forth by the PGA of America and recommendations made by the USGA;
  • Coordinate and conduct events, tournaments, and outings for residents, members, charities and special guests/customers; this includes initial contacts, pricing, booking, and management of the event;
  • Develop and implement the retail merchandising plan;
  • Reconcile daily accounting procedures such as green fees, merchandise sales, range revenue, membership sales, and lesson income;
  • Supervise and direct lesson programs;
  • Coordinate golf course set-up requirements with Golf Course Superintendent;
  • Supervise administration of men's and ladies' clubs or groups affiliated with the golf courses;
  • Assist the Director of Golf in the development and execution of a marketing plan for outside play;
  • Develop and monitor goals, objectives and development plans for department employees;
  • Schedule employee working hours and approve timekeeping records;
  • Interview, hire and evaluate personnel; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement corrective/disciplinary action; document as necessary;
  • Maintain and monitor work procedures and processes;
  • Assist the Director of Golf in development and management of department budget including planning, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring and corrective management;
  • Prepare articles for various publications;
  • Attend organization and Association meetings as required;
  • Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance;
  • Keep current with events and activities occurring at The Grand; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

3+ years’ experience as Assistant Golf Professional (First Assistant Golf Professional a plus) including supervisory experience; use of computerized point-of-sale equipment and golf handicap programs; background in teaching/instructing the game of golf; or a combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position listed above.Must possess, and maintain, a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Proficient in MS Office Suite.

Be in good standing with the Professional Golf Association (PGA) as a Class A Member.
