Job summary

Encore Leisure Group in the Houston area seeks an experienced Golf Course Superintendent to lead a dynamic GCM team and oversee all agronomic practices, safety, budgeting, and equipment management for superior course conditioning.

You will supervise staff, manage irrigation and water reporting, coordinate purchasing, and ensure OSHA/club policy compliance. Ideal candidate has 3–5 years as Superintendent and turf credential.

Qualifications

• 2-year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management (or related field) preferred.
• 3-5 years experience as a Golf Superintendent.
• Prefer Certification by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and directs the maintenance of putting greens, tees, fairways roughs, and water features.
• Supervises planting and cultural practices for turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants.
• Oversees maintenance equipment operation, repair and record keeping; may supervise golf cart maintenance.
• Prepares annual maintenance budget and agronomic plan including capital expense and equipment requests.
• Manages an aggressive water usage tracking plan and irrigation systems with monthly reporting on water sources.
• Recruits, supervises and retains maintenance staff; conducts performance evaluations and disciplines when needed.
• Implements policies, licenses, and environmental compliance; ensures safety training per OSHA and club guidelines.
• Maintains SDS log and ensures safe handling of chemicals and fertilizers.
• Schedules maintenance around member play to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption.
• Controls maintenance expenses including payroll, supplies, and chemicals.

Education

Two-year Turf Management degree or certificate

3-5 years Golf Superintendent experience

GCSA certification preferred
