Qualifications

• Act in absence of Superintendent/develop as a future superintendent.
• Ability to read soil test reports, and act upon those results.
• Skilled in aerification, topdressing, verticutting, and slicing practices.
• Skilled in arborological practices.
• Skilled in irrigation computer, field satellite controllers, timing, and quantity of water applied.
• Skilled in operations of the irrigation pump station.
• Knowledge of golf course maintenance operations.
• Skills in oral and written communication.
• Ability to instruct others in the techniques of golf course maintenance.
• Ability to service and make minor repairs to equipment and to know safety standards to prevent hazards.
• Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment such as mower and trimmers.
• Ability to meet and work with the public in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Knowledge of golf equipment and supplies.
• Ability to coordinate course maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting golf course operation and environmental management.
• Ability to execute in terms of problem solving and decision-making.
• Knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the management of a golf course including environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance crew and seasonal staff to maintain the golf course.
• Direct daily maintenance activities including equipment, irrigation, vehicles, and facilities.
• Fill in as Golf Course Superintendent in their absence.
• Coordinate course maintenance and repair to ensure high-quality play.
• Develop and implement agronomic programs based on soil and environmental data.
• Ensure safety standards and regulatory compliance are met.
• Serve as a liaison with public and golf stakeholders.
