Job summary

Royal Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to lead daily golf course maintenance, staff scheduling, and agronomic programs during a dynamic renovation period. You will work closely with the Superintendent and Senior Assistant Superintendent, gaining exposure to irrigation, fertility planning, and course improvements.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of golf course maintenance experience
• Degree in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture or related field preferred
• Texas pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain promptly
• Experience with turf fertility, chemical applications, and cultural practices
• Experience leading, training, or supervising golf course maintenance staff

Responsibilities

• Assist daily management and maintenance of the golf course and grounds
• Develop and execute turf management programs and agronomic practices
• Assist with maintenance budget development and monitoring
• Oversee daily scheduling, crew assignments, and equipment distribution
• Supervise fertilization, spraying, and cultural practices across turf areas
• Assist with irrigation and drainage system operation and maintenance
• Hire, train, discipline, and evaluate golf course staff
• Provide hands-on training to crew for safety and efficiency
• Maintain records of weather, pesticide applications, fertilization, and practices
• Communicate with Equipment Manager and mechanics on repairs
