Overview

Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy (IMSA) is seeking an individual to fill the role of "Head Coach" for the high school girls tennis team for the upcoming Fall 2025 season.

Preferred Experience: High school coaching role or club setting.

This is a stipend position based on coaching experience and years involved in the sport.

The Head Coach must:

• Pass a background check.
• Pass a CPR/AED basic life saving course.
• Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license to operate IMSA vehicles, including up to a 14-passenger mini-bus (no additional tests or endorsements needed).

Key responsibilities include:

1. Conducting practices with tennis drills & conditioning to improve athlete performance.
2. Collaborating with the Coordinator of Athletics & Co-Curriculars to develop a competitive season schedule.
3. Working with food service staff to provide meals for off-campus events.
4. Attending practices & matches from the season start to potential state finals.
5. Coordinating and supervising overnight stays for postseason competitions.
6. Transporting students to practices & matches during the season.

Minimum qualifications include:

• Possession or willingness to obtain one of the following as per IHSA By-Laws:
• Completion certificate of an approved IHSA coaching course (e.g., ASEP) or
• Current valid certification in teaching, school administration, substitute teaching, school psychology, school counseling, or school social work, or retired from teaching.

Additional requirements:

• Completion of all IHSA mandatory training modules and any Illinois-mandated training modules as prescribed by GCN/OneNet.
