Job description

Job Title: Head Football Athletic Trainer

Employer Name: Yale University

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Treats and rehabilitates athletes to return them to full activity levels.
  2. Conducts pre-season screening and conditioning to prevent injuries during competitions.
  3. Administers first aid and emergency techniques; applies tape, bandages, braces, and padding to injuries.
  4. Recommends new or modified care treatments; documents treatments, referrals, and injury reports.
  5. Determines methods for educating athletes and coaching staff on proper training techniques and modalities.
  6. In conjunction with the team physician, determines when an athlete has completed a rehabilitation program and can resume an appropriate level of activity.
  7. Assists the team physician during clinical hours.
  8. Travels with and/or oversees assigned varsity sports teams.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong background in providing athletic training to varsity football athletes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse population.
  • Dedicated, passionate, and highly motivated.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasionally travel.
