Schedule: Full-time M-F, approximately 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Location: Onsite (Cedar City, Utah campus)
Pay: Salary at $50,00-65,000/year depending on experience
Reports to: TBD

As the Head Fitness Coach at Havenwood, you will play a critical role in creating an intentional fitness culture for our guests. This role will own group fitness programming, individual fitness goal setting, progress tracking, workout planning, and the overall quality and safety of the fitness experience.

This role is not just about running workouts. It is about using physical challenges as a tool to help young people build confidence, grit, discipline, and a belief that they are capable of doing hard things.

Position Title & Overview

Havenwood is seeking a full‑time Head Fitness Coach to lead the fitness, strength, conditioning, and physical wellness programming for our guests. Havenwood is a Residential Treatment Center serving adolescent females with early childhood trauma. Our mission is to provide world‑class trauma treatment to those who wouldn’t otherwise receive care.

This role is for someone who is energetic, disciplined, relational, and passionate about helping young people discover what they are capable of. The right person understands that fitness is not simply about getting stronger. It can be a powerful tool for building confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, discipline, and healthy lifelong habits.

The right person will also have an accredited fitness/personal trainer certification.

This role is not for someone who is passively engaged, lacks grit, or who gets consistently drained by leading large groups of people for a long period of time.

This is a full‑time position at approximately 40 hours per week.

What We Expect from You

We are looking for someone who demonstrates the following attributes:

High Energy: You bring enthusiasm, confidence, and positive energy into the gym and create an environment guests want to participate in.

Exceptional Coaching: You know how to teach, demonstrate, encourage, challenge, and adapt based on the needs and abilities of each guest and group.

Relationship Building: You build genuine relationships with guests and understand that effective coaching begins with trust.

Intentional Programming: You plan workouts with purpose and create programming that is structured, progressive, engaging, and appropriate for different fitness levels.

Individualized Coaching: You help each guest establish meaningful and achievable fitness goals and provide consistent coaching toward those goals.

Grit & Accountability: You model consistency and help guests learn how to work through discomfort, setbacks, and difficult things.

Extreme Ownership: You take responsibility for the quality, organization, safety, cleanliness, and effectiveness of the fitness program.

A Day in the Life

A typical day as the Head Fitness Coach at Havenwood may include:

  • Leading structured group strength, conditioning, mobility, and fitness sessions for Havenwood guests (up to 6 group workouts per day).
  • Meeting one‑on‑one with guests to establish individualized fitness goals and identify opportunities for physical growth.
  • Tracking progress toward guest fitness goals and helping guests recognize and celebrate meaningful improvement.
  • Planning intentional workout programming that accommodates different abilities, fitness levels, injuries, and treatment needs.
  • Teaching proper exercise technique and maintaining a physically and emotionally safe workout environment.
  • Using physical challenges as opportunities to teach grit, confidence, discipline, emotional regulation, teamwork, and resilience.
  • Collaborating with clinical, residential, medical, recreation, and program leaders when individual guest needs require modification or additional support.
  • Creating fitness challenges, competitions, milestones, or other experiences that make physical activity engaging and meaningful.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and inspiring gym environment.
  • Caring for fitness equipment and identifying equipment or facility needs before they become larger problems.
  • Building relationships with guests outside formal workouts and encouraging healthy, sustainable attitudes toward fitness and movement.
  • Other duties as assigned
