Job summary

Havenwood Academy seeks a gritty Youth Mentor to work with a team supporting 8–14 students who have experienced significant trauma, ensuring their safety and well-being.

This full-time role is on the swing shift (2:30 pm–11:00 pm) including weekends, offering leadership development and opportunities to help young people heal and grow in a supportive environment.

Ideal candidates are driven, resilient, and committed to building trust and a positive community for residents.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum age of 20.
  • Ability to pass a background check & TB test.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting daily activities and supervising student interactions.
  • Maintaining the schedule, boundaries, and therapeutic protocols as prescribed by the treatment team.
  • Supporting Team Lead to ensure consistency in care and interventions.
  • Responding to crises with de-escalation techniques and intervention strategies.
  • Teaching guests positive coping mechanisms and reinforcing program expectations.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of student progress and incidents.
  • Upholding all safety protocols and compliance requirements.
  • Modeling and participating in the appropriate cleaning and maintenance of your assigned home.

Job description

Havenwood Academy is seeking a gritty Youth Mentor to join our organization. As a Youth Mentor you will work with a team of other staff to support a group of 8-14 students who have experienced significant trauma; ensuring their safety, and well-being.

This is a Full Time, 32 to 40 hours a week position on Swing (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm and weekends).

A Day in the Life

A typical day as a Youth Mentor includes:

  • Supporting daily activities and supervising student interactions.
  • Maintaining the schedule, boundaries, and therapeutic protocols as prescribed by the treatment team.

  • Lead your team in pursuit of The Havenwood Academy mission: “We provide world class trauma treatment to children who would not otherwise receive care”.
  • Repair relationship breaks with team members and guests as needed.
  • Maintain a comfortable, visually appealing, and clean environment in your assigned home.
Qualifications & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum age of 20.
  • Ability to pass a background check & TB test.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Experience in similar environments that share the characteristics of: volatility, uncertainty, chaos, and ambiguity is preferred but not required.
  • Starting Rate: $17.00 per hour.
  • Performance-Based Raises: $0.20 - $0.30 per hour every six months based on 360 performance reviews.
  • On-Call Bonus: $100 per week for participation in the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • 401(k) eligibility after 3 months (full-time employees).
  • Health insurance (Havenwood covers 75% of the bronze plan for full-time employees, minimum 30 hours per week).
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering free short-term counseling and 24/7 crisis response.
  • $10,000 company-provided life and AD&D insurance policy after 60 days.
