Job summary

YWCA NETN and SWVA is seeking a Lead Educator to guide a childcare program that supports the holistic development of children while ensuring safety and quality care. You will supervise staff and volunteers, coordinate activities, and uphold Tennessee licensing standards in a collaborative, nurturing environment.

The role emphasizes engaging with families, delivering developmentally appropriate activities, and maintaining accurate records and reports for program success.

• Experience working with young children in a childcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements a comprehensive childcare program aligned with center policies to ensure safety and well-being.
• Fosters a positive, respectful environment and helps children develop essential life skills.
• Attends to physical and emotional needs of children throughout the day.
• Provides medical care as needed considering individual child needs and backgrounds.
• Designs developmentally appropriate activities across multiple domains.
• Communicates with parents with daily updates and evaluates progress via checklists.
• Identifies behavioral issues and takes appropriate corrective action.
• Prepares lesson plans and TN ELDS documentation in advance for month or week.
• Coordinates volunteers and assigns tasks to support staff.
