Job summary

YWCA Hartford Region, Inc. seeks a Head Teacher I to provide a supportive, safe, and stimulating environment for children in the Early Learning Center. You will plan and manage developmentally appropriate activities while supporting assistant teachers and volunteers.

You will oversee curriculum delivery, coaching, and collaboration with the Site Manager to ensure safety, health, and high-quality programming. Some evenings may be required to meet program needs.

Qualifications

• Must meet degree requirements as outlined by the OEC, or CDA certification and 12 credits in Early Learning, or a plan to meet OEC requirements for Head Teacher.
• Minimum one (1) year of work experience in an educational setting with children.
• Strong knowledge of child development and psychology.
• Must pass OEC and criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Plans and manages the delivery of age-appropriate programs and activities.
• Implements support plans and coaches/mentors staff in implementing plans.
• Communicates curriculum objectives and delivers feedback to staff.
• Identifies children needing additional support and differentiates instruction.
• Ensures compliance with licensing, health, safety, and quality standards.
