Job summary

YWCA NETN and SWVA is seeking an Educational Assistant to promote the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of a group of children in a nurturing environment. You will implement the childcare program under the Director’s guidance, ensuring high standards of care and development.

You will lead developmentally appropriate activities, communicate with parents daily, and support in daily needs such as feeding, diapering, naps, and play.

Qualifications

• Reports safety violations or hazards to supervisor.
• Interacts professionally with children, families, visitors, volunteers, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Educator in carrying out activities and lesson plans for the group of children.
• Collaborate on classroom setup, decor, and learning environment.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and report needed repairs.
• Share housekeeping duties for indoors and outdoors.
• Prepare classroom supplies and forms daily.
• Maintain records of attendance, accidents, and activities.
• Follow Virginia DOE licensure rules and UVA Wise policies.
• Participate in staff meetings and required trainings.
• Support child development and communicate with parents.
• Identify behavioral concerns and support development plans.
