Job summary

Taher, Inc. is seeking a Head Cook to join our school food service team in Highlands Ranch, CO. You will cook and prepare meals using standardized recipes, supervise a small staff, and ensure quality, safety, and efficiency across meal service.

Responsibilities include inventory control, cost management, and promoting nutrition education in the school community. This is a full-time on-site role with opportunities for growth and professional development.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in a school food service setting preferred
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
• Able to lead a small team and provide direction
• Strong communication skills with staff and clients
• Follow spoken and written directions and prioritize tasks
• Lift up to 30 pounds and stand for long periods
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
• Criminal background check required

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food through standardized recipes
• Ensure meals meet quality standards and are timely
• Directs food service staff and substitutes in meal prep and service
• Prepare menu items for regular and la carte lines
• Monitor equipment and temperatures in refrigeration and freezer units
• Managing ordering, receiving, storing and inventory control of perishables
• Conduct cost control and monitor product and menu costs
• Control waste and manage cost and budget performance
• Establish monthly food and labor cost goals
• Promote nutrition education in school and community
• Uses time management to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Performs other duties as requested by leadership
