Job summary

Southside Christian School in Simpsonville, SC, seeks a Food Services Head Cook to oversee daily meal prep for students and staff. The position runs 6:00 am–2:00 pm on weekdays, with no weekends, and reports to the Director of Food Services.

You will prepare, bake, and cook large quantities, ensure safety and sanitation, manage kitchen records, assist with inventories, and maintain clean galley areas. A background in school cafeterias and food handling training is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, Protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
• Have a commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of Christian schooling demonstrated by eligible children enrolled in Southside Christian School.
• Must be spiritually mature and align with the school's Mission, Vision, Values, Biblical Beliefs, Statement of Christian Life Commitment, and Statement of Faith.
• Must articulate personal testimony and witnessing to students.
• Experience in a cafeteria setting is preferred.
• Trained in sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
• Trained in food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
• Must work quickly and efficiently; work well as part of a team; work well under pressure.
• Ability to maintain personal cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, cuts, prepares, and cooks meat, fish, or poultry to a safe temperature.
• Prepares and cooks items according to menus and dietary requirements.
• Bakes breads, rolls, and pastries.
• Prepares portions to be served to guests, employees, and students.
• Washes cooking equipment and utensils.
• Maintains food records under supervision of Head Chef or Director of Food Services.
• Assists with inventories of supplies and equipment.
• Ensures galley cleanliness and functional operation of kitchen equipment.
• Attends meetings and performs other related duties as assigned.
