Job summary

Taher, Inc. is seeking a Head Cook to lead school meal operations, developing recipes from scratch, and supervising a small kitchen team in a fast-paced environment.

You will ensure all meals meet quality standards, follow safety guidelines, and maintain daily lunch service with no nights or weekends. The role emphasizes cost control, HACCP compliance, accurate inventory, and collaboration with school clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a school food service setting preferred.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Able to follow supervisors' directions and lead a small team.
• Strong communication skills with employees and client.
• Able to prioritize, plan and use time efficiently.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares a variety of food through standardized recipes.
• Directs food service staff and subs in the preparation, setup, and serving of all meals.
• Prepares and cooks all menu items for regular and a la carte lines.
• Establishes monthly food and labor cost goals.
• Reinforces USDA regulations and HACCP standards.
• Conducting cost control analysis and monitoring waste to manage costs.
