Deering High School seeks an enthusiastic Head Coach for Girls Indoor Track & Field for the 2026-27 season. The role includes leading theGirls program and partnering with the Boys Indoor Track & Field coaches to oversee DHS track activities.

Applicants should have HS/college track experience, with teaching and coaching collaboration preferred, and must be prepared to complete CHRC and NFHS certification courses as part of onboarding.

• Lead the Girls Indoor Track & Field program and oversee season operations.
• Coordinate practices at DHS Gym and competitions at the USM indoor track in Gorham.
• Collaborate with the Boys Indoor Track & Field coaching staff to run DHS track programs.

Job description

Deering H.S. is currently looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable candidate to serve as our Head Coach for Girls Indoor Track & Field for the 2026-27 season. Candidate must be flexible to work within a cooperative team environment and is expected to partner with our Boys Indoor Track & Field Coach(es) to lead the DHS track program as a staff. Previous coaching (H.S., club or college) and/or teaching experience is preferred. H.S. or college track competitive expereince required. Home meets are held at the USM indoor track in Gorham. Practices are held at DHS Gym. There will also likely be an open Asst. Coach role on staff as well.

Applicants must hold a current State of Maine Department of Education (DOE) Criminal History Records Check (CHRC), and complete all required MPA coaching certificaiton courses via the NFHS, all PPS HR clearance paperwork and must be formally onboarded by PPS HR prior to employment. EOE.

The season start date for Girls Indoor Track at DHS is November 16, 2026. Deadline for applications is October 18, 2026. Our goal is to hire our new Girls Indoor Track Head Coach by October 30th (or sooner).
