Job summary

Birmingham Board of Education seeks a Head Coach to lead and coordinate a comprehensive athletic program across district schools. Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of verifiable sport-specific coaching experience.
• Must meet ALL requirements of the AHSAA Coaches’ Education Program.
• Knowledgeable of Emergency Action Plans for each facility.
• Must have an active CPR certification each year with AED Training.
• NFHS Concussion course completed.
• NFHS Heat Acclimatization course completed.

Responsibilities

• Provide an athletic program that is responsive to the sport and student needs.
• Assign and supervise students participating in the sport.
• Manage and conduct a sequential athletic program.
• Ensure student athletes are physically prepared to participate.
• Provide instruction on the rules and regulations of the sport.
• Teach techniques and skills for success in the sport.
• Be familiar with laws, rules, and Title IX to ensure policy compliance.
• Provide leadership to create a healthful climate for learning and participation.
• Order, purchase, and maintain equipment to standards.
• Maintain adequate safety conditions to prevent injuries.
• Attend job-related meetings with the principal or district administration.
• Perform non-instructional duties as prescribed by the Board of Education.
• Attend ALL required AHSAA meetings.
• Complete ALL AHSAA coaching requirements.
• Promote and support student-athletes for athletic scholarship opportunities.
• Submit eligibility rosters online in C2C at least two days before contests.
• Adhere to proper protocol when reporting athletic concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
