Job description

Missouri Valley College seeks a talented, hard-working leader to serve as its next cheer coach. The coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive and game-day cheer program within the NAIA, UCA, and NCA. The coach promotes student‑athlete success academically, athletically, and personally while representing the institution with professionalism and integrity.

The coach will plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the cheer program, teaching and supervising stunts, choreography, sideline and competition routines, fostering a disciplined team culture and ensuring safety through proper training and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the cheer program.
  • Meet or exceed institutional recruitment goals while identifying, evaluating, and recruiting prospective student‑athletes aligned with institutional and NAIA standards.
  • Build relationships with high school and club cheer programs.
  • Assist recruits through admissions and financial aid processes.
  • Support retention and academic success of current team members.
  • Coordinate cheer participation at football, basketball, and other athletic events.
  • Maintain compliance with NAIA and NCA rules, eligibility standards, and institutional policies.
  • Manage team budget, travel, uniforms, and equipment.
  • Schedule practices, competitions, and travel logistics.
Required Qualifications
  • Collegiate cheerleading and/or coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of stunt safety, tumbling progression, and choreography.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to recruit and retain student‑athletes.

  • Strong social media and program promotion skills.
  • Evening and weekend travel required.
  • Ability to lift, spot, and demonstrate cheer techniques safely.

As a pre-condition of employment, the applicant must be authorized to work in the United States. Employment at MVC is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
