Qualifications

MISSION STATEMENT:

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Plan, supervise, and implement the camp waterfront programs including but not limited to: swimming, kayaking, and water games and sports. Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers and staff while participating in assigned camp programs.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Graduate, some college preferred but not mandatory.
  • Certified Lifeguard, WSI
  • Experience working with children preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Possess good leadership skills
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to pass a child safety background check
  • Be detail oriented and well organized
  • Knowledgeable in children/personnel safety, planning, problem solving, and crisis intervention

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and implement all Waterfront activities including electives, free-time, and cabin activities.
  • Create an environment that leads groups to success, knowing the needs of the group, maintaining professional relationships, and fostering fun and encouragement.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise elective classes for groups of 8-20 campers, ensuring safety and effective instruction.
  • Lead briefing and debriefing sessions, communicating objectives and encouraging growth and reflection.
  • Supervise water safety programs, participate in safety training, instruct staff, and ensure safety standards are met.
  • Maintain the lake area, conduct safety checks, supervise lifeguards, and attend to camper needs.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Exhibit Christ-like conduct and support the camp program.
  • Participate in camp activities, follow policies, maintain cleanliness, and assist with camp cleanup.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, push, pull, reach, operate equipment, lift up to 25 lbs, understand instructions, and perform janitorial tasks.
