Position Summary:
Provides leadership in maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool(s), on the pool deck(s), and in surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety, engagement, youth development, and healthy living, in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. While on duty, responsible for ensuring lifeguards meet essential job functions. Assists the Aquatics Director with supervision and administrative duties.

Qualifications:
Language Skills:
Ability to read, interpret, retain, and teach safety and maintenance instructions; communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
Reasoning Ability:
Apply common sense, sound judgment, and confidentiality; effectively handle problems and follow policies.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands; lift up to 50 pounds; perform rescues; maintain alertness and clear vision; communicate verbally in various situations.
