Job summary

Oetiker, a global engineering company, seeks an experienced accounting leader to ensure accurate financial statements under Swiss GAAP and local GAAP. You will supervise subordinates across locations and coordinate with finance for timely book closures.

The role requires 10+ years in accounting leadership, CPA recommended, and strong budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis capabilities. You will drive policy changes and ensure integrity of the accounting system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required (Master's degree preferred).
• 5+ years' experience as a certified public accountant recommended.
• 10+ years' experience in an accounting leadership role.
• Exceptional leadership abilities.
• Strong budgeting, financial forecasting and financial analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Review AR/AP and general accounting documents for accuracy; authorizes payments.
• Create and implement changes to work methods to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Analyze, resolve and answer complex problems presented by staff.

• Ensure accurate entry of transactions into the accounting system.
• Review statistical reports to monitor activities and ensure accurate recording.

Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for drawing up accurate financial statements as per Swiss GAAP and local GAAP. Ensure that the accounting policies are adhered to and all BS & PL figures represent the correct state of financial affairs of the entity. Coordinate with other verticals of finance for timely closure of books of accounts and reporting

Essential Functions

• Supervise the activities of subordinates possibly in multiple locations.
• Review accounts receivable, accounts payable & general accounting documents prepared by subordinates for accuracy, completeness and conformance to policy; authorizes payments.
• Create and implement changes to work assignments, methods, or procedures to meet operational needs, improve accuracy and efficiency of the general accounting system.
• Analyze, resolve and answer complex or difficult problems presented by subordinates and others.
• Formulate, recommend, and implement changes to company policy or procedure to ensure integrity of the general accounting system; interprets policy and advises management of appropriate changes to policies and procedures.
• Recommend modifications to existing system and implements modifications through coordination with all units involved in the financial accounting system
• Ensure accurate entry of transactions to accounting system
• Review statistical reports submitted by staff to monitor activities, anticipate problems and ensure accurate recording of transactions submitted to financial systems.
• Support Production Controlling in regards to Controlling and Reporting questions and in executing efficiency and defined processes and guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Knowledge of principles, practices, regulations, and procedures as they relate to purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and methods as they apply to financial statements.
• Knowledge of the application of data processing techniques to accounting systems.
• Skill in preparing accurate and complete financial reports from accounting records.
• Skill in both verbal and written communication
• Knowledge in SAP or similar accounting system (FICO)

Education / Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required (Master's degree preferred)
• 5+ years' experience as a certified public accountant recommended
• 10+years' experience in an accounting leadership role
• Exceptional leadership abilities
• Strong budgeting, financial forecasting and financial analysis skills required
