Job summary

AMETEK STC in Peck, Michigan is seeking an Accounting Manager to coordinate daily general accounting functions, ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting, and support year‑end closing and audits. The role involves cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting in a manufacturing setting.

The successful candidate will lead month-end processes, monitor inter‑company activity, and contribute to strategic financial planning while collaborating with the DVP Finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (or equivalent).
• Minimum three years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure integrity of financial reporting for the Business Unit in accordance with GAAP.
• Review inventories, reserves, and inter‑company transfers; post receipts and adjustments as needed.
• Establish standard costs for new parts and perform cost rollups.

Job description

The Accounting Manager will coordinate the daily general accounting functions. This position manages tight deadlines, competing priorities and a full range of accounting activities including general ledger, financial reporting, year-end and internal audit support, Sarbanes Oxley documentation/compliance, tax compliance, physical inventory counts, and support of budget and forecast activities. Below is a summary of the responsibilities related to but not limited to performing this job function.

• Responsible for the integrity of financial reporting of the Business Unit adhering to standard accounting practices and GAAP.
• Review, reporting, & analysis of inventories, inventory reserves, and inter-company transfers including the review and or posting of inventory receipts and inventory adjustments.
• Establish standard cost for new parts and perform the simulated and frozen cost rollup for the part.
• Monitor material cost of sales throughout the month and prepare monthly product line gross margin analysis.
• Coordinate annual physical count of all inventories including reconciliation to the G/L balances.
• Responsible for month end and year end closing processes within the department including verifying batch integrity, creating, and entering manual entries, and reporting.
• Responsible for International Sales reporting to corporate including actuals and forecasts for sales, orders, and gross margin.
• Performing various Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance requirements for the business unit
• Responsible for reconciling various account balances including maintaining inter-company balances with corporate and all divisions.
• Responsible for ensuring that all work orders processing is completed, posted, and variances reviewed.
• Responsible for annual budget preparation, data analysis, and various reports.
• Support DVP Finance and finance team as needed with other duties/projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Enabling tracking of Peck’s marketing and R&D expenses for clear reporting.

Position Requirments:

• Bachelor’s degree – Accounting/Finance
• Minimum three years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment (cost accounting a plus)
• Self-starter with strong strategic thinking skills. Experienced in strategy reviews and being part of teams to develop strategic plans.
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Proven ability to develop and integrate effective practices and procedures. Strong PC and business systems knowledge.
• Excellent working knowledge of accounting principles. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally, as needed (generally less than 5% - primarily working from the STC Peck, Michigan office and manufacturing location.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Effective communication skills tailored to different audiences.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Responsible for forecasting and Corporate reporting including 5th and 7th day HFM reporting, quarter, and year end supplemental financial and tax schedules.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity,decision making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
