Job summary

AeroVect is seeking a Mapping Engineer to own creation and validation of high-definition maps for autonomous tractors. This on-site role in Atlanta involves managing maps from intake to deployment, using JOSM and Lanelet2/OpenStreetMap data, and validating changes in simulation and on the tractor.

You will work closely with autonomy, operations, and test engineers, maintaining map hygiene and coordinating with external vendors as needed. Strong ownership and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and safe, methodical work ethic.
• Familiarity with Git and PR/code-review workflows.
• Basic Python scripting and Linux command-line comfort.
• Clear written and spoken communication; ownership mindset.
• Based in Atlanta or able to relocate to work on-site.

Responsibilities

• Own the full mapping request queue from intake to completion.
• Create and edit HD maps using JOSM and Lanelet2/OpenStreetMap data.
• Submit map changes via pull requests and validate with Map CI.
• Validate changes in simulation and on the tractor in Atlanta.
• Capture evidence and document testing results for traceability.
• Maintain map hygiene and consistent naming/versioning.
• Coordinate with external vendors for large-scale map deliveries.
