Job summary

University of Florida is seeking an HCM Functional Analyst to support payroll operations, system testing, reporting, and process improvement within a busy university environment. The role requires a bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination, with strong collaboration across HR, Benefits, Finance and IT teams.

The incumbent will analyze payroll transactions, validate calculations, and prepare operational metrics while assisting with regulatory reporting

Responsibilities

• Payroll Operations: analyze payments for accuracy and compliance; research discrepancies; perform reconciliations; audit processes; support during peak periods.
• System Testing and Process Validation: develop and execute payroll test scenarios; validate calculations, earnings, deductions, taxes, leave accruals; document findings; coordinate issues with partners.
• Reporting and Analytics: prepare payroll reports and metrics; review data quality; assist with regulatory reporting and audits; support balancing and reconciliation.
• Business Process Improvement: document procedures and controls; identify efficiency and compliance opportunities; assist with new processes and training.
• Customer Service and Collaboration: serve payroll staff and campus partners; collaborate with HR, Benefits, Finance, and IT; provide professional service.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations

• Analyze payroll transactions and results to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, exceptions, and complex pay issues.
• Perform reconciliations of payroll-related data and financial transactions.
• Audit payroll processes and records to identify and correct errors.
• Support payroll processing activities during peak periods and critical payroll cycles.

System Testing and Process Validation

• Develop and execute payroll test scenarios and test scripts.
• Validate payroll calculations, earnings, deductions, taxes, leave accruals, and retroactive adjustments.
• Analyze test results and document findings, defects, and recommendations.
• Coordinate with functional and technical partners to track and resolve system issues.
• Participate in unit testing, integration testing, parallel testing, and user acceptance testing.

Reporting and Analytics

• Prepare payroll reports, data analyses, and operational metrics.
• Review data quality and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with regulatory reporting and audit requests.
• Support payroll balancing and reconciliation activities.

Business Process Improvement

• Document payroll procedures, workflows, and controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance, and service delivery.
• Assist with implementation of new payroll processes and technologies.
• Support change management, knowledge transfer, and end-user training activities.

Customer Service and Collaboration

• Serve as a resource to payroll staff and campus partners regarding payroll processes and procedures.
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Benefits, Finance, and Information Technology teams.
• Provide professional customer service while resolving payroll-related inquiries.

$65,000; Commensurate with experience.
