Qualifications

  • Background as EMT, Paramedic, LPN, RN or Respiratory Therapist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive at work on time.
  • Ensure safety of all patients during oxygen therapy.
  • Open the day by turning on oxygen and verifying chamber operation.
  • Maintain and inspect all hyperbaric chambers and perform routine maintenance.
  • Monitor medical history, treatment records and patient session results.
  • Conduct pre-dive vitals and BG testing for first-time patients and diabetic patients as needed.
  • Know vital signs parameters and emergency protocols; follow safety codes.
  • Ensure equipment is powered off and oxygen is turned off at end of day.
  • Maintain professional appearance and HIPAA compliance.

Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers and for patient safety while administering oxygen therapy to patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Arrive at work on time
  • Ensure safety of all patients
  • At beginning of day (opening) ensure oxygen is turned on
  • Ensure all hyperbaric chambers are in working order
  • Performs necessary maintenance to systems daily and as needed
  • Checks acrylic on all chambers once a month or more as needed
  • Maintain accurate records with regard to medical history, hyperbaric treatment and results of each patient session
  • Perform pre-dive vitals on all patients
  • Perform Blood Glucose (BG) test pre and post dive for all first‑time patients. Thereafter perform BG test on all diabetic patient’s pre‑dive and PRN post‑dive
  • Responsible for knowing all parameters for vital signs
  • Responsible for knowing emergency protocols and location of protocols
  • Ensure all chambers are powered off at the end of every workday
  • Ensure all oxygen is turned off at the end of every workday
  • Must maintain up to date knowledge on all applicable hyperbaric safety codes
  • Must have working knowledge of decompression procedures
  • Supports clinical hyperbaric facility accreditation
  • Maintains competencies, continuing education and certifications as appropriate
  • Maintain a neat and clean work environment
  • Interact effectively with co-workers
  • Understand and follow work rules and procedures
  • Always maintain a professional and tidy appearance
  • Maintain a professional and polite demeanor with all patients.
  • Comply with all patient privacy and HIPAA rules
  • Assist with other duties as time allows.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Working well in a team environment is imperative in this role.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Must have a background as an EMT, PARAMEDIC, LPN, RN or RESPIRATORY THERAPIST
  • Up to date on all applicable hyperbaric safety codes
  • BLS certification preferred
  • Up to date training and /or experience in hyperbaric chamber maintenance to include mechanical background where appropriate preferred
