Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines is seeking a Class A CDL driver to operate tractor-trailers and perform comprehensive safety checks. You will be responsible for safe freight transportation, adherence to FMCSA rules, and maintaining logs and records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• 21 years of age as per FMCSA regulations (1 year driving experience).
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse registration.
• Residence within 75 miles of domiciled Service Center/work assignment.
• Hazmat, Tanker and Doubles endorsements required.
• Ability to drive tractor-trailer per FMCSA requirements.
• Stable employment history preferred.
• Able to operate a forklift (min 7,500 lb vehicle).
• Pull/push loaded pallet jack or hand truck (min 70 lbs).
• Physical tasks: standing, lifting, twisting, climbing a ladder, etc.
• Dropping/hooking and coupling trailers with 65 lbs pressure.
• Provide acceptable MVR.
• Familiar with state motor vehicle laws and FMCSA rules.
• Pass FMCSA medical exam.
• Pass a road test.
• Meet FMCSA English requirements (read/speak).
• Lift ~70 lbs or more as needed.
• Drive all routes in all terrains (mountains, desert, etc.).
• Operate in varied environmental conditions (rain, snow, heat).
• Operate safety/operational functions of equipment (tires, transmissions).
• Comply with company policies and conduct.
• Interact well with others; work independently or in a team.
• Work under tight time constraints in high-volume environment.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and random drug/alcohol tests; background check.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Operate all equipment to perform safety functions, including driving manual transmission and tire chaining.
• Safely operate tractor/trailer to transport freight per FMCSA regulations.
• Maintain compliance with FMCSA requirements and drug/alcohol rules.
• Keep required records per local, state, and federal regulations.
• Transport hazardous materials safely and legally.
• Ensure security of equipment and cargo at all times.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections for safe operation.
• Inspect gauges and trailer seals; report discrepancies.
• Use in-cab technology and electronic logs as needed.
• Adhere to schedules and potentially work dock or hub segments.
• Provide professional customer service and assist as needed.
