Job summary

Purdue University in West Lafayette is seeking an Associate Environmental Safety Technician (S1) and an Environmental Safety Technician (S2) to support hazardous materials management. Responsibilities include collecting and processing chemical and biological waste, inspecting waste for compliance, generating manifest documentation, and responding to spills 24/7.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• College chemistry coursework preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Three years of hazardous materials experience for S2 level.

Responsibilities

• Assist in collection and processing of chemical and biological waste.
• Inspect waste prior to pickup for compliance with regulations.
• Generate and maintain manifest documentation.
• Blend, treat, package and label hazardous materials under supervision.
• Respond to chemical spills and emergencies 24 hours.
