Job summary

Illini Environmental, LLC is seeking a hazmat technician to support site remediation, hazardous waste cleanup, and emergency response. Role involves responding to spills, identifying materials, and implementing containment using PPE including Level A suits.

Position requires flexibility for on-call shifts, travel as needed, valid driver’s license, and ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening. OSHA HAZWOPER preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• Ability to perform physical labor.
• Willing to travel when needed.
• Must have valid driver’s license and adequate means of transportation.
• Must pass a DOT physical, background check, and drug screening.
• 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to chemical spills and releases.
• Identify hazardous materials, assess risks, and estimate the size of endangered areas.
• Implement control measures, construct barriers, and perform advanced mitigation techniques.
• Perform work in various levels of PPE, including Level A suits, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Perform decontamination procedures for personnel, equipment, and job site.
• Package, label, and transport hazardous waste for proper disposal.
• Prepare detailed reports, maintain accurate inventory records, and document all cleanup activities for regulatory compliance.
• Operate specialized handling equipment, maintain gear, and train other staff on safety procedures.
