Job summary

R+L Carriers is seeking a Safety Hazmat Technician at our Fontana, CA Service Center. The role supports emergency response, hazardous materials cleanup, site remediation, and decontamination under the direction of the Director of Safety.

The candidate should be physically fit, capable of lifting 75 lbs, and able to thrive in a high-pressure team environment while leading safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with all regulations. This full-time position offers benefits and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred
• Wear proper PPE when required per OSHA/industry health standards
• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments
• Update job notes daily and inform management of issues promptly
• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
• Lead safety in emergency response and proper waste containerization

Responsibilities

• Emergency response tasks and hazardous/non-hazardous materials cleanup
• Site remediation and equipment decontamination
• Handling hazardous materials and following safety procedures
• Prepare and maintain safety documentation and training materials
• Coach co-workers on unsafe behaviors and participate in projects as required
• Audit incoming/outgoing hazardous materials shipments for compliance
