Job summary

R+L Carriers in Elgin, IL is seeking a Safety Hazmat Technician to support emergency response, hazardous material cleanup, site remediation and decontamination at the service center. The Technician reports to the Director of Safety and works with teams across departments to ensure safe operations.

Requirements include a 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, ability to lift 75 lbs, strong communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification required.
• Ability to communicate with team members and other departments.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Perform emergency response tasks and hazardous materials cleanup.
• Assist with site remediation and equipment decontamination.
• Create and update safety documentation and notes.
• Coach coworkers on safe practices and safe handling of materials.
