Job summary

R+L Carriers is hiring a Safety Hazmat Technician at our Chicago, IL service center. You will perform emergency response, hazmat cleanup, site remediation, and decontamination while upholding the company’s high safety standards.

This role requires a 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, physical fitness for heavy lifting, and strong teamwork. You will lead safety efforts, document procedures, and coordinate training across departments.

Qualifications

• 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification required.
• Physically fit; able to lift 75 lbs.
• Able to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced team environment.
• Lead safety in emergency response and document safety processes.
• Experience with hazardous materials handling and waste containerization.

Responsibilities

• Perform emergency response and hazmat cleanup tasks.
• Oversee site remediation and equipment decontamination.
• Audit incoming/outgoing hazardous materials shipments for compliance.
• Coordinate training events to ensure personnel competency.
• Coach coworkers on unsafe behaviors and ensure safety procedures.
