Job summary

R+L Carriers is seeking a Safety Hazmat Technician at the Sanger, TX service center. Reports to the Director of Safety and handles emergency response, hazmat cleanup, site remediation, and decontamination tasks. Requires 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification and the ability to lift 75 lbs.

Position includes attention to safety procedures, daily notes, and teamwork across departments. Strong communication, training, and MS Office proficiency are required for success in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification required
• Wear proper personal protective equipment when required
• Work effectively and communicate with team members and other departments
• Inform the management team of issues that arise on jobs in a timely manner
• Update job notes daily
• Physically fit; able to lift 75 lbs
• Able to thrive in a high-pressure and fast-paced team-supported environment
• Lead safety in all aspects of emergency response, including following R+L procedures, properly containerizing waste/re-use products, and completing safety documentation, and upholding R+L’s high level of safety
• Experience operating tools applicable to emergency response activities
• Set up and participate in live training events to ensure the competency of personnel
• Audit incoming/outgoing hazardous materials shipments for compliance
• Ability and willingness to coach co-workers on unsafe behaviors observed
• Willing to participate in specialized scheduled projects as required
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications such as, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, customer service, and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to work in a confidential capacity
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, while being detail oriented
