Job summary

Republic Services in Portland, ME is seeking a HazMat Field Driver/Technician to transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste using Class A tractors and various trailers. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday with potential overnight shifts depending on routes and customer needs.

You will perform pre/post-trip inspections, maintain logs and waste manifests, and ensure DOT compliance while prioritizing safety and customer satisfaction on every pickup.

Qualifications

• A valid class A commercial driver's license with hazardous material and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain within 90 days from hire date.
• Must pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate class A trucks, including roll-offs, tankers, and other trailers.
• Perform LTL pickups and ensure proper loading and securing of waste.
• Maintain driver documents (logs, permits, trip reports, manifests).
• Comply with DOT regulations for hazardous waste transport (placarding, labeling, load segregation).
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and safe driving.
• Interact with customers to ensure satisfaction and maintain cleanliness of sites.
