Job summary

Republic Services in Portland, ME is seeking a HazMat Field Driver/Technician to transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste using Class B trucks, including roll-offs, tankers, and trailers. The role includes occasional overnight shifts, DOT compliance, and direct customer interaction to ensure safe, compliant waste pickups.

Qualified candidates will hold a valid Class B CDL with HazMat and Tanker endorsements (or obtain them within 90 days) and complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training.

Qualifications

• Valid Class B CDL required with HazMat and Tanker endorsements, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training on hire.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate trucks including roll-offs, tankers, tractors and box trucks.
• Perform LTL pickups and waste manifests.
• Maintain driver documents (logbooks, permits, trip reports).
• Comply with DOT regulations for hazardous waste collection and transportation.
• Understand state weight limit laws and maintain safe operation.
• Interact with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Participate in Site Safety program and trainings.
