Job summary

NAS Corpus Christi is seeking an Environmental Protection Specialist to join the Public Works Department. You will inspect regulated waste containers, verify contents for regulatory compliance, and manage waste transfer and labeling with attention to safety and documentation.

The role includes preparing shipping paperwork, tracking manifests and LDR forms, and performing weekly inspections of storage sites.

Qualifications

• Evidence of hazardous material handling experience required.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations governing storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Experience inspecting, labeling and packing hazardous waste for transport.
• Ability apply hazardous materials knowledge to advise Environmental Program Director.
• Must hold valid driver and forklift operator licenses; OSHA/HAZWOPER training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect regulated waste containers for structural integrity and markings.
• Inspect contents to ensure compliance with regulations, installation management plans, and permits.
• Transfer wastes between containers or lab-pack as needed.
• Prepare and submit paperwork; review and track shipping paperwork and forms.
• Perform weekly regulated inspections of storage sites and maintain inspection files.
