Job summary

Waste Management is seeking a Project Specialist to support hospital-focused programs, including hazardous waste handling, data entry, and site-based coordination across five Philadelphia-area hospitals.

The role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and effective liaison with clients and vendors. Requires education in environmental fields or related experience, HAZWOPER, and ability to travel between sites daily.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Environmental Sciences, Accounting, Business or related field, or in lieu of degree.
• High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of relevant work experience.
• 1 year of relevant work experience (in addition to the education requirement).
• RCRA and DOT regulatory compliance experience.
• 24-hour HAZWOPER certification (or the ability to obtain such within 30 days of employment).
• Manifesting and profiling hazardous and non-hazardous waste experience required.
• Pre‑assignment and/or pre‑hire drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements.
• 40 Hr HAZWOPER and DOT Haz Mat training preferred.
• Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous waste, universal waste and non-hazardous waste from client site.
• Ensure regulatory compliance by performing inspections and reporting; resolve issues timely.
• Perform labor-intensive tasks such as drum collection, waste bulking, and loading.
• Interface with customers and vendors to ensure service issues are addressed and safety standards are met.
