Job summary

This role ensures safe handling, storage, transportation, documentation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials across the plant. Responsibilities include managing waste streams, inspecting areas for compliance, supporting spill response, verifying documentation, and coordinating disposal with environmental personnel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to read and interpret SDS, manifests, shipping documents, and regulatory records.
• Experience with forklifts and material handling equipment.
• HazMat, DOT, RCRA, or environmental compliance training/certifications preferred.
• Strong organizational, recordkeeping, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage facility waste streams including hazardous, non-hazardous, universal waste, recyclables, mixed debris, and general plant refuse.
• Inspect waste collection areas to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Support spill response activities and manage spill-related waste materials.
• Receive inbound chemical deliveries and inspect containers for damage or deficiencies.
• Verify shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, SDS, and packing slips.
• Apply facility and regulatory labels to chemical containers.
• Store chemicals in designated hazardous materials storage areas per hazard classifications.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate disposal of expired chemicals.
