Job summary

MPS Group, Inc. seeks Environmental Supervisors to join the Mercedes Benz US International facility in Vance, AL. You will handle hazardous waste and oversee environmental management programs to ensure regulatory and company compliance.

All shifts are available. Candidates must have a HS diploma, 2+ years in waste management, and be able to pass background and drug tests while wearing PPE.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in waste management.
  • Must wear respirator and additional PPE.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Develop safety instructions and review safety documents with the crew.
  • Inspect equipment and remove damaged items from service.
  • Provide direction, equipment, and supplies to support the crew.
  • Serve as liaison with customers/clients.
  • Prepare and submit job reports as directed.
  • Make recommendations on equipment, personnel, and maintenance.
  • Operate fork trucks and burden carriers.
  • Follow all plant safety guidelines.

Job description

MPS Group, Inc., is seeking multiple Environmental Supervisors to join our team at the Mercedes Benz US International facility located in Vance, AL. These individuals will be responsible for handling hazardous waste at the plant, overseeing and coordinating environmental management programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.

Responsibilities And Job Duties
  • Develop TIS and review these safety documents with the crew routinely. This involves evaluating safety hazards on the job and determining and enforcing the necessary precautions, procedures, and PPE.
  • Inspect equipment and small tools to ensure they are in proper working condition, and red tag and remove from service any items that are damaged, broken, or malfunctioning.
  • Provide direction, equipment, small tools, materials, and supplies to support the crew.
  • Act as a customer or client liaison.
  • Prepare and submit job reports as directed by the site manager, director, or customer.
  • Make recommendations on equipment purchases, personnel needs, equipment maintenance, and other related matters.
  • Operate mobile equipment, such as fork trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear, including a respirator, while handling hazardous waste.
  • Load semi-trailers, tanks, and roll-off boxes for shipment to the disposal facility.
  • Perform and document daily equipment inspections prior to use.
  • Clean and maintain the organization and compliance of the Hazardous Accumulation Area.
  • Respond to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents on liquids, sweeping or vacuuming solids, and containerizing cleaned-up materials for proper disposal.
  • Assist the Project Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pick-up, and waste organization.
  • Perform inspections of waste storage areas and emergency equipment, taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during the inspection.
  • Inventory and inspect waste spill kits.
  • Maintain necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections, and other required activities.
  • Operate a fork truck to load and unload trucks.
  • Operate burden carriers.
  • Follow all plant-related safety guidelines.
Requirements And Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of experience in waste management.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Position requires wearing a respirator and additional PPE.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug test.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification
  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) certification.
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) certification.
