Job summary

Veolia in North America seeks a Waste Review & Approval Specialist to assess hazardous and non-hazardous materials for disposal, ensuring compliance with permits and regulatory requirements. You will evaluate analytical data, MSDS, and facility information to determine acceptability and maintain proper approvals.

Responsibilities include reviewing waste profiles, conducting labpack audits, enriching approval data, supporting field operations with safety compliance, and training facility staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related discipline.
• 5 to 6 years in the hazardous waste industry or related work experience.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Chemical/waste analysis expertise.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
• Knowledge of FMS and Salesforce systems.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Customer orientation and attention to safety.
• Time management and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• OSHA HAZWOPER Certification.

Responsibilities

• Waste Review & Approval – Review WIP, SDS, and waste profiles to prevent unsafe materials entering operations.
• Discrepancy Management – Identify, track, and resolve off-specification waste issues in FMS and Salesforce.
• Labpack Audits – Conduct detailed audits of labpack shipments prior to acceptance.
• Approvals Enrichment – Maintain and enhance approval data in FMS database.
• Customer Communication – Provide timely feedback to branches and customers regarding waste opportunities.
• Quality Assurance – Support field operations with drum segregation oversight and safety verification.
• Technical Support – Serve as technical resource for incineration and landfill operations; assist process planners.
• Tracks profiles to ensure approvals meet timelines; Assigns pricing codes to waste streams.
• Provide input on policies/regulations to expedite approvals.
• Completes the approvals on a variety of materials.
• Assists in technical training for facility.
