Job summary
Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. seeks an experienced transportation specialist responsible for all shipping activities related to radioactive waste at the Low Level and Mixed Waste Facilities.
The role covers trucking, rail and air transport, with emphasis on regulatory compliance and safe packaging practices. The position requires a DOT Waste Shipper certification with 5 years of experience in hazardous/mixed/low-level waste shipping; and may prefer a Bachelor's degree in a related
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- DOT Certified Waste Shipper with 5 years in shipping Hazardous/Mixed/Low-Level Radioactive Waste.
- Preferred: Bachelor's in Nuclear Tech, Waste Management or related field; 10 years in shipping radioactive waste.
Responsibilities
- Act as the point-of-contact for all transportation activities within the facilities.
- Prepare documents for the transportation of radioactive waste by truck, rail and air.
- Research appropriate packaging, shipping methods and container QA requirements (Type A/B).
- Adhere to site procedures, licenses and Waste Acceptance Criteria for transportation.
- Support project manager to prepare CDS for Hanford shipments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
