PERMA FIX Environmental Services Inc. in Richland, WA seeks an experienced Transportation Specialist responsible for all transportation activities within Low Level and Mixed Waste Facilities.

You will manage documentation for truck, rail and air shipments of radioactive waste following 49 CFR and other regulations. Ideal candidates have the DOT Certified Waste Shipper credential and at least 5 years shipping hazardous, mixed, or low-level radioactive waste, with the ability to work independently

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• DOT Certified Waste Shipper with 5+ years shipping Hazardous/Mixed/Low-Level Waste.
• Preferred: Bachelor's in Nuclear Tech, Waste Mgmt or related field; 10+ years experience.
• Experience shipping to NTS, Hanford DOE disposal facilities, and IATA regs.

Responsabilidades

• Research packaging and container QA requirements (Type A/B) and testing methodologies.
• Adhere to site procedures, licenses, and Waste Acceptance Criteria for transport.
• Support project manager to prepare CDS for Hanford shipments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

This position is responsible for all transportation activities within the Low Level and Mixed Waste Facilities. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Act as the point-of-contact for all transportation activities within the Low Level and Mixed Waste Facilities.
• Prepare appropriate documents for the transportation of all radioactive waste and materials by truck, rail and air transport modes in accordance with all Local, State and Federal regulations, particularly 49 CFR.
• Research appropriate packaging, performing radioactive materials/waste shipping; understanding of container QA requirements container testing (i.e., Type A, Type B, etc.) and other container analysis methodologies.
• Understand and adhere to all site procedures, Radioactive Materials Licenses and Waste Acceptance Criteria, particularly as they pertain to transportation.
• Support project manager to prepare CDS for Hanford shipments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Department of Transportation Certified Waste Shipper with 5 years of experience in shipping Hazardous, Mixed and/or Low-Level Radioactive Waste.
• Must be self-motivated, work independently and handle a fast-paced work environment.
• Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Technology, Waste Management or related field; 10 years of experience in shipping Hazardous, Mixed and/or Low-Level Radioactive Waste; experience shipping waste to the Nevada Test Site (NTS) and Hanford DOE disposal facilities; experience shipping waste to the Energy Solutions disposal facility at Clive, Utah; 5 years of experience shipping under the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) regulations.

Will split time between working in an office-type environment and working outside in all weather conditions while checking receipts/shipments, and occasionally in an industrial-type environment. The approximate time spent: sitting -50%, standing- 30%, walking- 20%.
