Job summary

Tradebe Environmental Services in East Chicago, IN is hiring a Hazardous Materials Plant Chemist for the 2nd shift. You will receive, identify and de-pack lab packs while applying chemistry knowledge to classify and safely manage hazardous wastes.

Responsibilities include consolidations, sampling, packaging, and documenting shipments, plus regulatory compliance and inspections. On-site work with PPE is required; forklift experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Experience with chemicals or hazardous materials is preferred.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and use PPE.

Responsibilities

• Receive, identify, sort, and de-pack lab pack materials.
• Classify, characterize, and safely manage hazardous waste streams.
• Perform bulk consolidations, sampling, and container management.
• Prepare, package, label, and document hazardous waste shipments.
• Complete regulatory documentation and maintain compliance with EPA, DOT, OSHA and company requirements.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure safe and compliant operations; assist spill response.
