Job summary

Clean Harbors in Indianapolis, IN seeks an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste per regulations. This entry-level role works at customer sites daily and supports lab packs, HHW collections, and lab moves, indoors and outdoors across plants, labs, and facilities.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Strong customer service skills are required.
• CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Ability to perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Successful completion of background check, drug test, and physical if applicable.
• Compliance with OSHA respiratory protection standards is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority and follow safe work practices.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and disposal notifications.
• Inspect staging, accumulation, and storage areas for housekeeping and compliance.
• Inspect storage drums for leaks, spills, and proper labeling.
• Package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and compliance.
• Perform jobs at customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies.
• Finalize projects before shipment in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company policies.
• Conduct work per site-specific regulations and health and safety plans.
