Job summary

SGS Consulting is seeking a hands-on Hazardous Waste Technician to load/unload containers, assemble and label packaging, and manage material transport within the facility. You will work with forklifts and other tools to handle hazardous waste safely, following RCRA guidelines.

The role requires basic regulatory knowledge and the ability to complete necessary paperwork for shipments, ensuring a clean, safe work area and adherence to all safety protocols.

Qualifications

• 3–6 months of experience in hazardous waste or chemical industry.
• Proficiency in handling forklifts and a variety of tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload various size containers (totes, drums, tankers, trailers).
• Construct boxes and/or fiber containers and stacks, labels, and loads containers.
• Transport hazardous waste materials within the facility as directed.
• Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums/containers per RCRA guidelines.
• Assist in processing paperwork for material transport to/from locations.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
• Inspect material handling equipment as directed.
• Assist with loading/unloading hazardous and non-hazardous waste at designated sites using trained equipment.

Job Responsibilities

Load and unload various size containers (totes, drums, tankers, trailers. etc.)Construct boxes and/or fiber containers and stacks, labels, and loads containers.Be comfortable using a variety of tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, jackhammers, etc.Transport hazardous waste materials from storage facilities within the facility as directed.Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and/or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.Assist in completing all necessary paperwork for processing materials to include transportation of materials to and from various locations.Perform general housekeeping duties.Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.Inspection material handling equipment as directed.Assist in the loading/unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment for which you are appropriately trained.

Skills

Ability to use a computer, manage email communications, and communicate effectively verbally, electronically, and in writing.Familiarity with Hazmat, RCRA, and/or EPA regulations is preferred.Experience with chemical pumping operations and operating forklifts and yard dogs is a plus.

Education/Experience

High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.Prior work experience of 3 to 6 months in the hazardous waste or chemical industry in a related position with proficiency in handling forklifts and a variety of tools preferred.
