Job summary

Veolia North America, LLC is seeking a Hazardous/Non-Hazardous Waste Technician to move solids and liquids across the work facility in Greer, SC. The role involves loading, unloading, and transporting waste using forklifts and specialized equipment while following strict safety and RCRA guidelines.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED and some hands-on experience with hazardous materials. Training in 40-hour HAZWOPER is preferred, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 3–6 months experience in hazardous waste or chemical industry; forklift proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload containers (totes, drums, tankers, trailers).
• Construct boxes and fiber containers; label and load containers.
• Use tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, jackhammers.
• Transport hazardous waste within the facility as directed.
• Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums per RCRA guidelines.
• Assist in completing paperwork for material processing and transportation.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Inspect material handling equipment as directed.
• Assist in loading/unloading hazardous and non-hazardous waste at designated sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Position Purpose:

Responsible for performing a variety of routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks in the movement of solids and liquids.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Load and unload various size containers (totes, drums, tankers, trailers. etc.)
• Construct boxes and/or fiber containers and stacks, labels, and loads containers.
• Use a variety of tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, jackhammers, etc.
• Transport hazardous waste materials from storage facilities within the facility as directed.
• Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and/or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.
• Assist in completing all necessary paperwork for processing materials to include transportation of materials to and from various locations.
• Perform general housekeeping duties.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
• Inspection material handling equipment as directed.
• Assist in the loading/unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment for which you are appropriately trained.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

• High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred
• Prior work experience of 3 to 6 months in the hazardous waste or chemical industry in a related position with proficiency in handling forklifts and a variety of tools preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to communicate through reading and writing
• Trained in the use of material handling equipment

Required Certification/Licenses/Training

• 40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred
