Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Hazard Mitigation Coordinator to support federal HMA programs such as BRIC and HMGP. You will guide applicants, review submissions, provide technical assistance, and prepare recommendations for action.

Responsibilities include ensuring timely documentation, conducting training, monitoring subgrantees, and maintaining financial reconciliations. You may participate in the State Emergency Operations Center during emergencies and drills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; experience in mitigation, grants, or project management preferred.
• Ability to interpret regulations and apply emergency management procedures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to state and local applicants pursuing HMA funding.
• Conduct briefings and meetings with potential mitigation applicants.
• Review applications and provide technical assistance for compliance and merit.
• Ensure accurate and timely submission of documents in required systems.
• Provide mitigation training and information sessions.
• Monitor subgrantee compliance and respond to inquiries.
• Perform post-completion compliance inspections and resolve issues.
• Prepare regular updates and reports regarding project status.
• Coordinate with staff regarding mitigation projects; assist as needed.
• Serve in the State Emergency Operations Center during emergencies and drills.
