Job summary

Sentry seeks an Underwriting Leader to own and grow a new book of business in Hawaii, ideally residing on Oahu. You will drive revenue and profitability for the Hawaii region and guide a small team of underwriters toward high performance.

You will direct product positioning, partnerships with independent agents, and strategic market entry plans while collaborating with pricing and product teams to optimize profitability and growth in a dynamic market.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of underwriting experience in standard commercial lines property and casualty in Hawaii.
• Familiarity with the Commercial Lines marketplace in Hawaii and agents on the islands.
• Experience building and managing a profitable commercial lines book with profitability through effective agency management.
• Strong familiarity with state insurance regulations.
• Ability to develop a strategic business plan for entry into new markets.
• Experience collaborating with products and pricing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a new Hawaii book of business and direct its profitability.
• Position Sentry's products to increase premium, profit, and market share.
• Plan and conduct account and agency meetings with new agents.
• Solicit accounts through independent commercial lines agents.
• Monitor results, premium trends, and loss ratios for the territory.
• Build and lead a small underwriting team to achieve business goals.
