Job summary

Interstate Waste Services, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Hauling Operations to oversee depot operations, route planning, and safety compliance. The role includes supervising drivers, schedulers, and dispatchers, while driving efficiency and cost control across the hauling network.

You will work with operations management to meet budgets, ensure OSHA safety standards, and coordinate with city and state agencies for service excellence.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of work experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations.
• Associate's degree or in lieu of degree, high school diploma/GED with 5 years of relevant experience.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience.
• Experience with fleet management and heavy equipment operations.
• Experience overseeing business plans, budgets, and cost tracking.
• Data-driven decision making and safety program experience (OSHA).
• Strong project management, leadership across a matrix organization, and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day depot operations and support to operations managers and supervisors.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate site personnel including drivers and dispatchers.
• Develop procedures to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA) and conduct root-cause investigations.
• Oversee staffing, training, and performance evaluations; influence hiring decisions.
• Coordinate with Customer Service and Sales; participate in P&L reviews.
• Lead safety meetings, route optimization, and fleet inspections.
