Job summary

Bay Area Community Services (BACS) Regis Recovery Unit in Hayward, CA seeks a Substance Use Coordinator to deliver harm-reduction, site-based support, and case management for individuals and families across the Greater Bay Area. The role emphasizes a non-judgmental approach, data accuracy, and linkage to longer-term supports.

Responsibilities include direct service, needs assessment, care planning, crisis support, and collaboration with hospitals and treatment teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in social services.
• 2 years SUD counseling experience preferred.
• CCAPP/CAADE/CADTP certification or registration required.
• Proficient with MS Word, Outlook, and documentation platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provides harm reduction based on recovery needs and schedules.
• Mentors and provides counseling and crisis intervention on-site.
• Assesses stage of change and collaborates with treatment teams.
• Manages withdrawal and sobering observations with coordination of services.
• Coordinates with hospitals, EDs, and clinics for safe withdrawal.
• Provides crisis support and links to additional substance use services.
• Maintains client records, progress notes, and billable services per guidelines.
• Works with interdisciplinary team for coordination and care.
