Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Linux HPC experience, with large-scale HPC system administration and hardware support.
  • Proficiency in HPC hardware, HPC software, and break/fix procedures; knowledge of Linux (RHEL/SLES) preferred.

Hardware Technical Specialist

Location: Hawthorne, California (On-site)

Role Overview

This position involves supporting a high-performance computing (HPC) supercomputer at a customer site. The role requires reporting on-site five days a week and working with both the customer and remote teams to maintain system availability and uptime. The work includes daily break-fix tasks, extensive troubleshooting, and parts replacement across the system. You will respond directly to customer requests and assignments, providing technical and operational support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain Linux Supercomputer systems availability for the customer.
  • Perform hardware diagnostics and repairs as required.
  • Gather data, perform analysis, and elevate problems to higher-level product support groups and appropriate management.
  • Work under the direction of a Project/Technical Manager and with customer-nominated representatives.
  • Provide advice on solution and integration opportunities.
  • Contribute to knowledge tools and communities, ensuring project learnings are documented and shared.
  • Diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause in a multi-technology environment.
  • Conduct or lead oral status and technical interchange meetings with clients.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Arts/Science or an equivalent degree in computer science or a related area of study. Without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience are required (8+ years in total).

Experience: 5+ years of Linux HPC-related experience, with a focus on large-scale HPC system administration and hardware support. Strong experience with current versions of Linux/Unix operating systems, file systems, networking, and security (Red Hat/CentOS or equivalent) is required.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in HPC Hardware, HPC Software, and Break/Fix procedures is required. A working knowledge of Linux operating systems such as RHEL or SLES is preferred.

Work Environment

This role requires being on-site at the customer location five days a week during standard business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional travel for training and hardware repairs will be required.
