Lightmatter in Mountain View seeks a Hardware Systems Technical Lead to drive design and delivery of photonics-based AI accelerators and interconnect products. You will partner with hardware, software, mechanical, packaging, and IC teams to turn concepts into production-ready systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven track record taking hardware systems from concept to production.
• Deep knowledge of VRMs, high-speed SerDes and interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, SPI/QSPI, I3C, I2C, JTAG).
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary development across electrical, mechanical, and firmware domains.
• Strong ownership mindset in ambiguous, dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop hardware systems for photonic AI infrastructure applications.
• Own hardware systems development from concept through production.
• Define, develop, and review PCBAs to meet system-level requirements.
• Lead hands-on integration, verification, and validation across EVT/DVT and production.
• Coordinate with firmware, photonics, packaging, and software teams to resolve dependencies.
• Maintain thorough hardware documentation and design records.
• Research components and technologies to meet product goals and contribute to roadmaps.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers.
